Dry night for Islamic New Year 2017 in UAE

Earlier this week we reported that on the occasion of Al Hijra - the Islamic New Year - the dry night would fall on Thursday.

HOWEVER - this date has now changed, and the dry night in Dubai and the UAE has been moved forward to Wednesday 20th September.

The change in date was announced today (September 19th) by a circular issued by the Dubai Government to restaurants, hotels and bars in the emirate.

This dry night means that hotels, restaurants and bars will refrain from serving alcohol.

Dubai Tourism and the Government of Dubai requested that all licensed premises stop serving drinks and refrain from 'holding entertainment activities and parties' from 6pm on Wednesday, to 7pm on Thursday.

As a result, because of this change, you're free to change your Friday brunch plans accordingly!
