This Is What The Queen Eats In A Typical Day

It’s tough to have your food preferences when you’re a royal and the whole world is (literally) your oyster. But thankfully, for Queen Elizabeth II, there is an army of chefs at her beck and call to pick out the menu.

According to The TelegraphDarren McGrady, a former chef in the royal kitchens, said that the Queen is "not a foodie. She eats to live, unlike Prince Philip who loves to eat and would stand and talk food all day."

Here’s a quick rundown of what she prefers to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner — and in between.

Breakfast

Her Royal Majesty the Queen likes to start her day with a freshly brewed cup of Earl Grey tea (no sugar, no milk) and a few biscuits.

It's then followed by breakfast that's usually cereal and fruit. Occasionally, she likes toast and marmalade. And when in a lavish mood, she opts for scrambled brown eggs with smoked salmon and truffle. Fancy!

Lunch

The royal lunch is a simple affair. But the Queen does have some favourites. According to the former royal chef, Darren McGrady, she liked to eat grilled Dover sole with wilted spinach or courgettes.

She also has a soft spot for a simple and comforting grilled chicken with salad. When dining alone, her Royal Highness follows a 'no starch' rule to avoid calories meaning no potatoes, rice, or pasta.

Dinner

Dinner on a typical day is usually fillets of beef, venison, pheasant or salmon from farms in Sandringham or Balmoral.

And, last but not least, she finishes her day with a glass of Champagne.
